A Look at Brake Caliper Painting

Brake caliper painting is an easy and affordable way to add a unique and stylish touch to your vehicle's appearance.
The experts at Rimguard can give your car that custom look!

What are Brake Calipers?

Brake calipers house the brake pads and use hydraulic pressure to clamp the pads against the rotors to slow down your car.
ost calipers come from the factory with a black or gray finish.
By having them painted, you can give your vehicle a personalized look.

Benefits of Painting Brake Calipers

  • Painted calipers can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of your vehicle
  • This can complement custom wheels and other modifications
  • It protects calipers from corrosion and rust
  • The process is an affordable way to customize your car's appearance
  • It’s an indication of high-performance brakes on some vehicles

Rimguard vs. DIY Painting

While DIY caliper painting is possible, you’ll get superior results with the specialized tools, materials, experience and techniques of a professional technician.
RimGuard can ensure the proper preparation takes place, that there is an even paint application, and that you get a durable finish that lasts for years.

Rimguard can help!

Rimguard, Inc. is excited to offer brake caliper painting at our Raleigh location. The Rimguard brake caliper paint system is available in 12 standard, wear-resistance colors: pink, blue, gold, white, lime green, black, yellow, grass green, purple, orange, silver, and red. Custom colors are also available for an additional fee. (Example: matching the brake calipers to the factory-issued color of your vehicle).

Turn Around Time

Rimguard will need your car for three to four days to make sure that brake calipers are prepped and painted properly and to allow enough time for them to dry. Once the paint has fully dried, your car can be driven.

Care & Maintenance

Be sure to periodically clean brake calipers to maintain the high-gloss finish. You can simply spray them with a hose or wipe them off with a damp cloth. Chemical cleaners will no longer be necessary.

Does painting affect how the calipers work?

No, painting brake calipers does not negatively affect their performance if done properly. The brake calipers just house the brake pads so painting the caliper body won‘t impact braking performance or functionality.
But if you fail to completely mask off the brake pads, pistons, and rotors, it can lead to paint overspray getting on these components. This could cause sticking or reduced friction. Rimguard uses the proper paint for brake calipers and ensures paint does not get on any critical components.
